Group 1 - Jolly Phonics

GROUP 1 - s, a, t, i, p, n

1. Introducing the sound through some flashcards that contain the sound:
Teacher starts the procedure presenting the sound to the students through some flashcards. The word of the picture in the flashcards begins or contain the sound the teacher wants to work. Teacher tries to elicit the sounds from the students making different questions and promoting oral communication. Finally, the teacher presents to the children a special flashcard with the letter and their symbol.


2. Action and rhyme of the sound:
Teacher associates a movement or an action to the sound. The action is related to the letter and their symbol. Later, the teacher recites with students the rhyme of the sound making the movements that they have learnt previously. Each sound has a different rhyme. For exaple:


3. Song of the sound:
Teacher sings with the students the song making the movements of the sound.




4. Introduction to writing:
Children learn to write the letter through a rhyme and they practise the pattern of the letter (with plasticine, on the screen, paper, air, partner's back...).
